SOYO S (sigma) drive
the drive (for those who aren't familiar with it, it's a CF/SM reader and has 2 2.0 ports) was never used as I didn't have a digital camera at the time (and had no use for the ports). I am hoping that it isn't exclusively for use with SOYO boards as I'd like to hook it up to my current board (an Asus SK8V) as the reading of the card from my PictureMate is glacially slow (2 hours for 30 JPGs). The instructions helpfully state "the black end attaches to the S drive, the green to the motherboard". Thing is, the cables supplied have two black ends. Has anyone been successful in using the above with an 'alien' board? I don't give a monkey's about the ports, but I'd love to be able to utilise the CF reader. Any assistance gratefully received. -- Facon - the artificial bacon bits you get in Pizza Hut for sprinkling on salads. On Sun, 20 Feb 2005 20:22:52 -0000, "Miss Perspicacia Tick"

What about wire colors? You might consult the Soyo board's manual to determine what the pinout was on that board and compare to the pinout on the new board. Since the reader worked with the old board we can assume the cable's pinout (at least one end of it, probably both(?) matches the board, it would be a matter of determining if the new board's USB port pin-header pinout matches that on the Soyo board (assuming it does plug into a "standardized" USB header on the old Soyo board).
