All this new hardware..Q?
I'v not had the chance to look into building a PCI-E system, built a few AGP systems and its been straight forward plug the card in get everything set up, power on and its cool, the VGA card works without installing it's drivers before hand, then install drivers once windows is up and running. I assume the same happens for PCI-Express video cards yes? no need to fanny on installing VGA drivers before the OS like with SATA RAID SCSI etc if someone could just let me know cheers dont wanna g out telling someone i can build them a system with PCI-Express GFX when i dont actually have 100% idea if i can cheers again Christo On Sun, 20 Feb 2005 18:16:26 -0000, "Christo"

Why would it be? Its just a different slot. In fact I have such a system and I just got a card but Im not using it for a few weeks until Im sure Im NOT getting my preordered card from ATI . Anyway if you are interested in it Ive just checked and VIA has come out with a 939 pci express chipset too along with Nforce4 and I saw an ASUS board at Newegg a popular online site. at risk of being accused of spamming again. There are more and more PCI express boards hitting the mkt and a killer video card which everyone is wating for is starting to dribble out --- the 800XL which has been hyped at all the sites as being = to the 6800GT at a $100 cheaper price 299 MSRP. This is suppposed to blow the video mkt wide open but ATI as usual is dragging its feet and shipping puny qtys. Some non-ATI versions were selling these cards at 100 over MSRP the last month or so. However $299 versions are finally hitting a few stores. In the US you can order these directly from ATI at a discount if you get a code - 10% off unfortunately I and others have been waiting over a month for them. With PCI express video cards hopefully falling in price its a good time to consider going PCI express.
