For people in the US Compusa is having a pretty good sale today

They have a 6 hour sale starting at 8 am and the usual week long one.

I think some people are camping out for the systems they have in their
ads some Amd 64 system for 699 or 599. I think it may be that
HP/Compaq is aggressively pushing sales --- they had sales at Office
Depot too.  Ive read that they were thinking about going head on with
DELL in attempt to revive their lackluster compaq division especially
after ousting Fiorina the former head of HP who masterminded the
acquisition of compaq.

Anyway they have XD 256 flash mem for $29 for people who are suffering
trying to get decent XD card deals while SD and compact is going for
peanuts.

They have a antenna for wireless cards for 4.99 after a hefty rebate
but thats cheap and the usual super cheapo deals on routers -- these
are G routers and a B netgear router for 4.99.

Tons of stuff is listed go to their website and check out the ad.

However the Maddog 9250 ATI card 128 mem for 29 bucks after rebate may
or may not interest some. Im interested cause Im still waiting for my
dang 800XL and only a PCI card will work besides the PCI express cards
and they are $70-80 minimum for ATI 300.

There a fancy looking black keyboard for $9 .

And  I think a targus wireless mouse with recharger cradle for 9
bucks.

Some were posting some outrageous combo deals since you get lots of
free stuff or discounted stuff with a system and then if you apply for
their Compusa CC you get a % off or something so with the sales
discounts, rebates , freebies and CC discount it came to some
outrageous low amount but you have to hassle lots of rebates.

But it aint.  Some people have asked for posts of deals in the past .
and proposed we post a constant flow of deals. Thats better done at
the deal sites but I just mention the obvious ones once in a while.
And I appreciate reading them. I have absolutely nothing to do with
Compusa, Newegg or Zipzoomfly  as everyone knows.  Just letting people
know about deals thats all, from all sources.  Actually these are much
better covered at the deal sites.  They know all the deals - I just
mention the best ones once in a while cause they are gone like that
and you see people asking for deals on HDs etc .

Like the 800XL or 6800GT --- anyone know of any prices better than
$300 I want to know and so would zillions of others. Post away.
Ive been waiting over a month so far for that card with a sub $300
price.

Right now ATI is selling these direct preorder for less than 300 but
they suck big time at delivery. Some stores are getting puny amounts
in for 299.

And why in this group? There are plenty of other groups to talk about sales,
etc.

And I like staring at naked photos of your sister... Can I get them posted
in here too?

Actually there arent but I get your point ---- you dont want any
mention of prices. I  wont mention prices whatsoever at all or places.

I think he mistook the inflatable dummy I use to get on the carpool
lane as my sister. Its actually an old Spice Girls inflatable dance
partner that I got real cheap after the craze died.

I don't.  I realize that *you* might appreciate it, but if I or anyone else
wants to be innundated with "deals", all we need to do is open up the Sunday
newspaper or any of the online sites listing such.

I come here to read about hardware issues, not "deals".  You might want to
propose a new group, alt.comp.hardware.deals, so you will have a place for
these types of postings.

Yes before this becomes an avanlanche of postings Ive already
apologized and posted I wont mention ANY again. I was wrong I got way
off track because of several posts a while ago where some people were
talking about it and no one objected.

I certainly don't mind being alerted occasionally when there are some
extra good deals around that I might have missed otherwise.  IMHO,
there's no reason why we can discuss problem hardware, installation,
settings and even where it might be available, but not be free to tell
people when something is available at a good price.  This isn't a
group for buying and selling, but it's most certainly a group for
telling fellow buffs about hardware-related things that may benefit
them.
