TECH: 55 inch philips big screen rear projection color

the tv is 5 yrs old. i bought it new and its been in my smoke free
home ever since:).

prob: when the color adjustment is turned up, it makes the faces and
screen appear to red. but if you turn the color down.....down more
than the middle point to get rid of the redness, the color is very
pale on everything.

also, it looks like words on the screen and people have a small GLOW
around them. like they are outlined glowing kind of (if that makes
sense).

suggestions?
