Are DVC Tapes, the same thing as Mini DV tapes?

I need to buy some mini DV tapes.   Our local store carries dvc tapes,
are those that same as dv tapes? I want to buy them in bulk of at
least 5 pck, but want to make sure it's the right stuff.   Is dvc
short for digital video cassette?   thanks.
