I have only few tools and less skill - but must remove audio
from a short .mpg clip so it can be embedded in a PowerPoint
presentation with narration.

Is there a way?

Thanks,

Silvy

Not free, actually.

Yes, I hadn't looked at their site for a long time either, so just to
be safe, I looked before posting my previous note.

To tell the truth, the site is confusing (to me, anyway), so although I
found no evidence of free software, I would bow out gracefully if you
showed me to be wrong ;-)

A genuinely free program that will do this is MPEGStreamclip at
http://www.squared5.com/  run the program and under FILE menu  look for the
item Export Audio

MPEGStreamclip and ProjectX are both programs that are mainly used by
digital tv enthusiasts  to process their mpeg2 files to make dvd's etc  but
of course there are many other applications.  I have a Topfield PVR
http://www.topfield-australia.com.au/  and a Beyonwiz PVR
http://www.beyonwiz.com.au/BWhomepage.html  so I've been using both programs
for the last 4 years.
