HDTV with Sony KV-36XBR400?I just bought a used Sony 36XBR400 TV which is HDTV capable. Connected
the HDTV Converter provided by Optimum (Cablevision) and it works. But I have two problems. #1. There are horizontal black bands above and below the picture on HD programming. Is there any way to get rid of them or is this just the nature of the beast; #2 Two nights ago I watched programming on all of the available HD channels (700 series of channels) and they looked great. Last night, however, when I tried to do the same thing on most of the channels the picture was a still picture but with audio. I had regular moving video on only one or two of the HD channels. Can anyone help? Thanksamundo! "Dejola" <johnandja***@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1181911164.391397.113260@q66g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... Whew, these are expensive! Also (nothing to do with this) have them be sure that your cable box is set to accept 1080i signals - it is surprising how many people who should know better are watching upsampled 480i signals unintentionally, thinking they are HD...;-( --DR Show quote

Connected You might go to this forum and muck around: AVS Forum > Display>the HDTV Converter provided by Optimum (Cablevision) and it works. But >I have two problems. #1. Devices > Direct View (single tube) CRT Displays http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=64 Often there are are sub-forums just for one particular model. And/or you might find the source of the owner's manual, if you don't have one Re: the bars. Have you checked the set menu. I have a different model SONY, but the set menu lists all kinds of basic displays you can set up. In any case, whether it is thru the STB or the TV itself, when you try and squeeze one size picture onto another size screen, something suffers. HTH Enjoy |
