Canon HV-10 Wide Angle Converter Options

I've got a Canon HV-10 and am looking for something that will get me a bit more wide angle than the Canon 0.7x WD-H37C which gives a 35mm format
equivalent of 30mm FL.  I'd like to get at least a 28mm FL equivalent or smaller.
Options I've looked at include the Raynox HD-5050PRO (0.5x) and the century optics DS-55WA-37 (0.5x) or century optics 0DS-HR65-37 (0.65).

Does anyone have opinions on these Century optics models as far as how sharp (or unsharp) these may be in the corners, especially compared to
the Raynox?  Zoom-though would be nice, but is not necessary.

Thanks -

John

John,

I own the HV-20 and first tried the Raynox .5X. It really stinks!!!!! Bad
edge focus, chromatic aberration, and barrel distortion. Their web site
sample did not reveal how poor this supposedly "HD" lens really is.

I subsequently got the Canon WDH-43, which I suspect is quite similar to
your 37mm Canon. The performance is excellent, but it too is .7X rather than
..5X.

Not sure anyone offers a good .5X but would also be interested in knowing
about one if it exists.

Most important, I suggest you take a look at all the threads regarding HV10
and HV20 stuff, in particular wide angle, filters, teleconverters, etc. at:

Hope this helps.

Smarty -

Thanks for the info on the Raynox 0.5X.

I've already started a couple of threads over at dvinfo.net and am gradually getting some feedback.
