Playback fault Canon MV700Canon MV700
I have i done something silly or has the camera developed a fault, On play back there is a series of 'grey bars' across the screen . You can see the video playing 'behind them' the tapes playing at 'normal speed' and the sound is also 'normal' I have tried other tapes and all play the same, I have no way to check if its recording 'ok' other than playing it back on it, Once again, I can see the video playing 'behind' the parallel bars and the sound is also 'normal' Any ideas ? Some oxide has come loose from the tape and it is clogging one of your video heads. Normally a cleaning tape will clear the clog if it isn't too bad. The best thing to do is to prevent it from happening in the first place. When you stop taking video for more than 30 seconds, power down the camcorder. Camcorders are designed to power themselves down after 5 minutes of being paused but that is WAY TOO LONG. Power it down in less than one minute of being paused and I don't think you will see that problem again. Let it set there powered up, grinding away on that stationary tape and you will see that problem again.
