Just for the records, I got one of these Firewire to USB cables from ebay for $.99 and plugged it into my Sony DCR HC38. The computer actually runs Server 2003 which is not supported by the Sony USB driver, but nevertheless, all I got was an 'USB Device not Recognized' ...
