Would this make any difference to my home network?

These are wireless adapters you would connect to a desktop or a laptop, but
only if you have a wireless router/AP or gateway already installed in your
network.

802.11b runs at 11Mbs and 802.11g runs at 54Mbs. A typical wired network
runs at 100MBs. I have no idea what network configuration you are currently
running, so I could not tell you what difference it would make.
